Catherine Winters

I am a printmaker living in Hythe, Kent. I derive my inspiration from the natural world around me - I sketch and cut straight onto the block in order to convey some of the energy of the beauty that I see.

I print using a converted Victorian Ewbank mangle from the 1880s which gives my images a raw and imperfect quality - no two prints emerge the same.

I use handmade paper which may have flecks and inconsistencies in the grain, and coloured pieces of paper may fade in direct sunlight.
